Stephen C Small

Stephen C. Small - Dr. Small received his PhD in Military Studies from The Union Institute, Cincinnati, Ohio. He also holds an MLS in Liberal Studies from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma and a BA in Political Science, Excelsior College, Albany, New York. His research focus is on the history of military technology and its impact upon American history. Additionally, his research interest extends to the history of ideas, Western philosophy and study of the human condition. Dr. Small is a retired US Army Infantry officer. From1989 to the present, he has served as a Department of the Army civilian. In which capacity he is a Liaison Officer for Special Operations for the Joint Service Small Arms Program (JSSAP) Office, Picatinny, New Jersey. He holds the highest professional certification (Level III) in the functional specialty of Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering. He has authored a biography on a 19th century soldier-technologist, and has several publications, including articles in Naval History, Military Review and National Guard Review. He has also presented papers and conducted briefings for various military and law enforcement organizations.
