Biography - Tatiana D Parent

After moving to Hawaii from Massachusetts I pursued a Bachelors degree in East-West Classical Studies from Hawaii Pacific University, as well as a Masters degree in Diplomacy and Military Studies with a concentration in ancient warfare. I went on to receive a PhD in History with concentrations in Ancient History, and supporting fields in Medieval Studies, Islamic History, and World History. I have published a book review in the Hawaii Pacific Review, as well as a paper in Hawaii Pacific University’s International journal, The Voice.

Professionally, I have taught college-level online history for several years and hold memberships in the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society, the American Historical Association (AHA), the Society for Military History and the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA). Currently, I am living in the United Kingdom and working on publishing my dissertation, which examines the role of elite foreign units in the Roman army, and their influence on tactics and strategy. Furthermore, I have compiled an epigraphic database of military diplomas, papyri, and gravestone inscriptions recording the role and scope of recruitment, deployment and settlement of foreign soldiers in the Roman army.

Aside from scholarly pursuits, I enjoy travelling as often as I can, writing, playing the violin and watching films.
