Biography - Victoria M Stay

Professor Stay completed her Bachelor's degree at James Madison University, and she received her M.A. in Sociology at Arizona State University. She has completed almost all of her course work toward her PhD at Arizona State University, specializing in Medical Sociology and Statistical analysis. Her thesis analyzes the gendered effects of debt on mental health outcomes such as depression and alcohol consumption. Professor Stay has taught lower-level and upper-level sociology courses, both face-to-face and online, for Arizona State University and multiple campuses in the Maricopa District of Community Colleges. She launched the online program for the Sociology Department at Mesa Community College in Arizona.

Professor Stay's research interests include medical sociology, the family, gender, consumption, and religion. Her professional affiliations include the American Sociological Association and American Association for Training and Development.

When not up to her ears in sociology, Victoria is an up-and-coming 'greenie' in the environmental movement and trying to tame her Arizona garden. She is as much a fan of pop culture as she is of sociological theorists, and loves to observe and analyze this quirky world of ours.
