Kelli Frakes earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Police Administration and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky University. She also received a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University.
Prior to teaching, Kelli owned a consulting firm that researched issues pertaining to first responders funded by the Department of Homeland Security and the National Institute of Justice. Kelli also spent several years at the Justice and Safety Center at Eastern Kentucky University as a Research Project Manager.
Kelli enjoyed a career in law enforcement prior to her positions in academia. In addition to time as a patrol officer she became the youngest sergeant promoted in Fayette County. Her research interests are in intelligence-led policing, cyber crime, and terrorism.
Kelli Frakes is married and has four children ranging in age from 11 to 4 and lives in Lexington, KY.
