Kelli K Callahan

Professor Callahan has worked in the Criminal Justice field for over nineteen years, and has taught various criminal justice and forensic science classes to adult learners for several years, both in the traditional classroom as well as on-line. In addition, she taught various classes in law enforcement and community corrections academy settings where she developed her love of teaching.

Professor Callahan’s work experience includes employment in various capacities including forensics and crime scene processing, forensic medical investigation, law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole, as well as serving as a member of municipal agency oral boards and committees geared towards officer selection and training purposes. She has held peace officer status in three states (CA, ID, AZ), and during her time with various agencies in California, Idaho, Arizona, and Washington, she worked in numerous specialty units including sex offenses, crimes against children, domestic violence, stalking offenses, gang crime, high-risk juveniles, and mentally ill offenders.

Professor Callahan possesses a Master's Degree in Forensic Science (M.F.S.), a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology (B.S.), and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology (B.A.). She is a professional member of the American College of Forensic Examiners International, the American Society of Criminology, the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, the American Probation and Parole Association, the American Psychological Association, the American Association for Correctional and Forensic Psychology, the Forensic Mental Health Association of California, the American Women's Self Defense Association, the American Anthropological Association (Biological/Forensic Division), the American Psychology-Law Association, the American Chemical Society (Toxicology Division) the Northwest Regional Crime Analysts Network, the International Association of Crime Analysts, the California Sexual Assault Investigator's Association, the Homicide Research Working Group, and the International Law Enforcement and Educator's Association. In addition, Professor Callahan possesses certifications in Forensic Medical Investigation and Homeland Security.

While employed in the criminal justice field, she has served as a member of the Center for Sex Offender Management, the California Sexual Assault Investigator's Association, the San Diego County Domestic Violence Council, the San Diego County Juvenile Firesetter's Advisory Council, and various inter-agency officer retention committees. Professor Callahan’s previous academic positions have included the roles of criminal justice department chair, criminal justice and forensic science instructor and curriculum developer, and criminal justice and forensic science adjunct faculty member and guest lecturer at various institutions. She is a published author and participates in numerous conferences and seminars on an annual basis and enjoys networking with other criminal justice and forensic science professionals and students. Professor Callahan is a member of the North American Council for Online Learning, the Western Pacific Association of Criminal Justice Educators, and the American College of Forensic Examiners International Commission on Forensic education.

Professor Callahan resides in the emerald city, the beautiful city of Seattle and enjoys partaking in all of the activities that the northwest has to offer.
