
Jan Roy, PhD, CMP has over 25 year experience in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Prior to being the Program Director of the Hospitality Management Program at APUS, Dr. Roy served as an Assistant Professor of Hospitality Management, at Central State University in Wilberforce, OH; at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI; and as an adjunct instructor in hospitality management at St. Xavier University and Roosevelt University, both in Chicago, Illinois.
Prior to becoming an educator, Dr. Roy was an industry practitioner for a number of years. She held senior marketing positions in leading Chicago hospitality organizations such as: Chicago Convention & Tourism Bureau, McCormick Place, Navy Pier, Hotel Sofitel Chicago, and Sheraton International at O’Hare.
Roy has served on the board of directors of several Chicago area organizations: Rotary International Breakfast Club, Meeting Professional’s International (MPI) – Chicago Chapter, Society of Government Meeting Professionals (SGMP) and Network of Executive Women in Hospitality (NEWH).
Dr. Roy is an active member in International Council of Hotel, Restaurant, Institutional Education (ICHRIE); American Hotel Lodging Association (AHLA); Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA); and National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners (NCBMP). Roy speaks regularly at national hospitality conferences on trends and growth strategies in hospitality management.
