Andrew McMurray received his Ph.D. in history education from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana and master’s degree in international relations from Troy University in Troy, Alabama. Prior to this, he spent four years as a secondary teacher. His academic interests range from the pedagogy of the Vietnam War to the impact of the Troops to Teachers program on education in the United States. He is the author of articles appearing in various academic journals, including Internet and Higher Education, The Teacher Educator, Social Studies Research and Practice, and American Secondary Education.
Originally from the outskirts of Cincinnati, Ohio, he presently resides in southwestern Indiana with his wife and three children. In his spare time, he enjoys playing softball, basketball, and rooting on his beloved Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. He is also from a family with a tradition military service. His grandfather served in North Africa during World War II, his father and uncle served during Vietnam, and his two older sisters both married career US Marines during the early 1990s.
