Professor Davis began his professional life at a small engineering company in New York, then transfered to General Motors as a design engineer. From engineering he moved into program research and evaluation, completing studies for various states and federal agencies including the Agency. He has served in leadership positions in organizations as Research Economist for the Executive Office of the President, Executive Director of The Religious Coalition, Regional Director for World Relief Corporation, and Washington Office Director for Evangelicals for Social Action. In higher education he served as Director of Academic Affairs for the University of Phoenix, President of University College of the University of Northern Virginia, Dean of the College and Campus Director for Potomac College, and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Baltimore International College.
Professor Davis currently serves as Chancellor of the University of North America (UoNA), a graduate university offering Masters and Doctoral degrees in management, information technology, and computer science and certificate programs for international nurses. In addition, he holds an appointment as Ecumenical Institute Professor of Moral Theology at St. Mary's Seminary and University, where he has twice been named Dunning Distinguished Lecturer. He also is the author of the long-running column On Religion published weekly in three newspapers.
Professor Davis is a perpetual student. He received A.B. (with Distinction) and A.M. degrees in economics from The University of Michigan, an M.B.A. in management from Northcentral University, an M.Th. in Systematic Theology from The University of Nottingham, an M.S. with Honors in Space Studies from American Military University, and an M.A. in Mission from the University of Wales. He has been awarded two doctorates, one in ethics and theology from St. Mary's Seminary and University and one in business administration from Northcentral University. He is currently completing an LL.M. degree in Commercial Law at the University of Derby.
Dr. Davis has received numerous honors including being named to Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Religion, Who's Who in Education, and Who's Who in Technology. He is a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon National Economics Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society, and Delta Epsilon Tau education honor society, and was named the Rickards Fellow in Theology at The University of Nottingham. He served as Chair of the Board for Resources for Family Growth, as President of the Board of Directors of the Foreign-born Information and Referral Network, and as Chairperson of the Maryland Refugee Advisory Council. He currently serves as an External Examiner for the Hong Kong Institute of Continuing Education Community College, as a member of the Advisory Board for the School of Business and Technology Management of Northcentral University, and as Treasurer and Board Member for the International Movement Arts Institute, as a Board member of the International Council for Innovative Higher Education, and as a member of the Industry Advisory Council for the School of Business at APUS.
Dr. Davis has over 80 publications including works for the United Nations, the Career College Association, the International Reading Association, and Faith at Work. He has been an invited presenter at the 58th International Astronautical Congress, the American Education Research Association, and the International Social Science Association. He has had a variety of educational materials published including Forty Famous Black Americans and Famous Documents - New Perspectives in History. His textbooks, A Survey of World Cultures - The United States and Canada, and Economics - An Integrated Approach, are published by Prentice Hall.
Professor Davis is married to Dr. Janet Marie (Gorden) Davis and lives in Columbia, Maryland.
