Biography - Melvin L Fogle


Adjunct Professor Melvin (Shawn) Fogle received his Bachelor of Science in Workforce Education, Training and Development from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. He also holds dual master’s degrees, with honors and distinction, in Organizational Management and Business Administration from Southwest University. He was also awarded his Demonstrated Master Logistician (DML) credential by the International Society of Logistics (SOLE) in 2013.

He is a career transporter and logistician in the United States Air Force and was recently selected for promotion to the grade of Chief Master Sergeant. He serves as the principal senior enlisted advisor to the Expeditionary Operations School Commander and two squadron commanders on effective utilization, professional development, education, morale & welfare matters; ensures the professional development and efficient management of 180 military, civilian and contracted personnel from 47 Air Force Specialty Codes including Services, Civil Engineering, Emergency Management, Command and Control, Personnel, Contracting, Security Forces and Air Transportation. He is also responsible for ensuring that the organization meets its’ chartered mission of delivering HQ Air Force directed expeditionary combat support training to over 8,000 deployers annually via 18 expeditionary field and resident courses. Professor Fogle also oversees the efficient management of a $181M training enterprise and monitors quality control indicators ensuring strategic organizational goals are met. He also has managed a first-class training and education program serving over 30,000 students annually through 68 seat-based and 19 online training courses in various logistics specialties. His efforts twice earned him the nomination as one of the US Junior Chamber of Commerce's Ten Outstanding Young Americans in 2008 and 2012 and he was the United Services Organization (USO) Air Force Service Member of the Year in 2010. His military awards also include the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Air Force Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Navy Achievement Medal and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.

He is also a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the Air Force Sergeants Association, the National Defense Transportation Association and the Airlifter/Tanker Association.
