Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Spiro Doukas completed his undergraduate education in Business Administration at the State University of New York, Empire State College, which was completed partially in Athens, Greece. He received his master’s degree from the State University of New York, Maritime College in Logistics/International Transportation Management. And in December of 2007, He completed his doctoral degree (Ed.D.) in Sports Management with a specialization in Sports Marketing, from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama.
His research focuses on Olympism, perceptions of benefits and costs of the Olympics, mega events and sport logistics. His dissertation was titled, Perceptions of Public Transportation Passengers in Athens Pertaining to the Effects of the 2004 Olympic Games; A Path Analysis Approach. He recently published a book titled "Athenian Public Transportation Users and the 2004 Olympic Games”.
During the 2006/2007 season he was employed for the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers as an assistant database administrator for the box office. During the summer of 2004, he worked for Jet Set Sports/Sports Illustrated at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games as a transportation manager. In June, 2011 he planned and managed the Olympic Day Event for the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee in Chaguaramas, Trinidad along with students from the University of the West Indies. His other experiences include being an Operations Coordinator for the Princeton Airporter in New Jersey and he has had other positions in sales. He recently became associate professor at American Public University System.

He enjoys traveling, being outdoors, running, learning, being with his family, good company with laughs, and tremendously enjoys helping young people achieve their educational goals.
