I have been an educator all my adult life. After graduating with a BA in Psychology and a Masters in Education, I began teaching in a public elementary school in Texas -- one year in grade six, then ten years in grades two and three. During that time, I earned my Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction and I began to delve more deeply into the fascinating world of human development and psychology.
I’ve taught college-level courses in educational foundations and history, educational psychology, classroom management, child adolescent development, social studies, and computer theory and applications. I also researched and wrote articles about human development. Eventually I will finish a book in progress.
I would also have to say that I’m old enough to have lived through (and sometimes participated in) many educational trends -- some happily, others not.
Here are a couple of extra tidbits. At one point in my adventure, I took a leave from the classroom and delved into event organizing, consulting, and training -- chiefly in the areas of motivation, team-building, and leadership. At another point I took a detour to start a computer learning center for children -- and focused on how kids can learn as they interact with problem-solving and creativity software.
