Biography - Jennifer B Staley


Jennifer Staley having received her master’s degree in Education and bachelor’s of science in Management is the Director of Instructional Design for American Public University System (APUS) in Charles Town, WV. Her experience in the education and training fields as well as working in the corporate environment have enabled her to not only effectively build, then lead the Instructional Design Team at the University, but to successfully create and maintain cooperative interdepartmental relationships while meeting deadlines. She directs the process through which new programs are developed, designed and launched, facilitates the continuous improvement, maintenance, and enhancement of courseware, and establishes and maintains working relationships with resource providers to determine cost efficient methods of introducing new technologies and course materials into the online classroom.

Jennifer’s educational background spans from her being a non traditional working adult student herself to teaching in the public school system. During her tenure in public school, she was an active member of the pilot for the countywide implementation of the Professional Learning Community (PLC) which supports differentiated instruction, research based best practices for improving student achievement, and ongoing data collection to evaluate the program’s effectiveness. Throughout this time she was an innovative member of PLC curriculum teams in which she worked collaboratively to develop learning outcomes, design and develop quality cross disciplinary instructional materials that not only encouraged students to take increased personal responsibility for their success but implemented relevant technologies into the classroom while supporting the team teaching approach. These and her colleague’s accomplishments were highlighted in the video that was used at educational conferences to demonstrate the school’s commitment to the PLC.

Jennifer’s management skills were cultivated in her role as the Headquarter Services Manager for a non profit professional scientific association in Alexandria, VA for nearly ten years during which she managed the day to day operations of the association. Most recently, in her Senior Analyst and Instructional Designer position she analyzed systems and processes in order to design effective training materials as well as gathered and authored technical requirements documentation.
