Biography - Jonathan S Gordon


Mr. Gordon holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Criminal Justice from Brenau College, Gainesville, Georgia, and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia.

In December, 2001, Mr. Jonathan Gordon retired from the Atlanta Police Department after 28 years as Deputy Chief of Police in command of the Technical Services Division (TSD). His previous assignments include patrol, criminal investigation, and serving as the department's lead planner, and Deputy Commander for the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympic Games. The Technical Services Division included The Computer Services Unit, The Communications and E911 Section, The Central Records Section, The Identification Section (Crime Scene Investigations, Criminal History Records, and Forensic Services), and The Crime Analysis Unit.

He has conducted incident command related training classes/seminars for the International Association of Chiefs of Police, FBI National Academy Conference, The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, British Ministry of Defense, The Israel National Police, and Olympic security forces (Barcelona-Spain, Lillehammer-Norway, Sydney-Australia, Salt Lake City-Utah, Athens-Greece, and Beijing-China.

Upon retirement, Mr. Gordon entered the private sector and co-founded a software company that specialized in incident command preparedness software that was used to support security operations for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games.

In January, 2004, Mr. Gordon formed J S Gordon & Associates, Inc. which specializes in ICS/NIMS-based incident response preparations, developing and conduction discussion & Operations-based training exercises according to Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) guidelines, major special event preparations, and ICS/NIMS-based computerized application development.
