Biography - Donald R Torrence


Don Torrence is a Senior Executive Service Intelligence Officer assigned to the Department of Homeland Security Office of Intelligence & Analysis to serve as the Director of the Collections & Requirements Division. Don just completed a one year detail with the FBI Terrorist Screening Center and a two year detail to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) in the newly formed National Intelligence Coordination Center (NIC-C) where he served as the Deputy of Domestic Affairs. Prior to his assignment to the ODNI, Don worked at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Intelligence and Analysis from October 2004 to October 2007 serving as the Deputy Division Director of the Strategic Analysis Division, and as the Director of Border Security and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Threat Analysis Division. His past government civilian positions include Intelligence Research Analyst in the Space Directorate at the Defense Technology Security Agency, Program Manager in the US Army TROJAN telecommunications program, and the Deputy of the Field Support Division, Land Information Warfare Division (Information Operations).
Don completed 24 years of active service and retired from the US Army in 1999 at the rank of Sergeant Major. His Army career culminated with service as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the US Army Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence in the Pentagon. Don’s 24 year US Army experience was focused on Special Operations intelligence and operations. He has also supported contingency and combat operations in Panama and counter narcotics missions in Colombia, Panama, Honduras and areas of the Caribbean.
Don received a BS in Management and Technology from the University of Maryland, a MA in Security Management from Webster University and a Professional degree as an Applied Scientist in Engineering Management from The George Washington University.
