Jeff Melton received his bachelor’s degree in psychology and anthropology from Duke University. He earned his master’s and doctoral degrees in social psychology at the University of Illinois. Dr. Melton’s dissertation and the majority of his published work have focused on the role of emotional states in judgment and problem-solving. He has served as a reviewer for Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin and Cognition and Emotion. After leaving Illinois, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Affect Measurement program at Indiana University, and taught at a variety of colleges and universities prior to his present positions at Ivy Tech Community College and APUS. In his spare time, he likes to play chess and is also a soccer fanatic, especially when his son is playing. He lives in Bloomington, Indiana with his wife, son, and two dogs.
