Biography - Leslie A Weatherly

Ms. Weatherly is employed as a full-time faculty member with APUS teaching human resources, organizational development, and business management classes. She has had the opportunity to provide human resources leadership and professional services in a variety of settings, to include for profit, nonprofit, and HR management outsourcing. As an HR generalist, she possesses a strong background in all aspects of HR administration and core HR functional areas, to include performance management, employee compliance, policy and procedure development, compensation & benefits, recruitment and selection, employee relations, and workforce planning and development.

Her background includes employment as Vice President of HR from 2008 to 2010 with Professional Healthcare Resources, Inc. (PHRI). PHRI is a provider of home healthcare and hospice services in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. From 2006 to 2008, she worked as an HR Practice Leader with KnowledgeBank, Inc., a leading provider of human resource management services to the commercial, nonprofit and government sectors. From 2002 to early 2006, she had the opportunity to work as an HR Content Expert in the Research Department, Knowledge Development Division, of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), where she was responsible for identifying topics and focus areas in need of additional human resource management research, and for creating HR products of strategic and practical value for HR target audiences. Before joining SHRM, Ms. Weatherly served as Vice President of HR and Administrative Services for American Medical Laboratories, Inc., (AML) Chantilly, VA, where she was employed from 1979 to 2001. As a member of the senior executive team and chief administrative officer (CAO) for AML, her responsibilities included information systems, accounting & finance, materials management and purchasing, facilities and property management, environmental health & safety, and corporate risk management, in addition to human resource management, organizational development, and organizational effectiveness.

Ms. Weatherly holds an undergraduate degree in Liberal Arts from St. Joseph College, Emmitsburg, Maryland, and a Master of Arts degree in human resource management, as well as a certificate in total quality management, from Marymount University, Arlington, Virginia. She is nearing completion of a doctoral degree in psychology (all but dissertation) through Walden University, with a specialization in industrial and organizational psychology. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).
