Biography - Melissa Rigney


Prof. Rigney received her B.A. in English from UCLA, her
Masters degree in English from the University of Northern Iowa and a PhD in 2003 from the University of Nebraska. Prof. Rigney has over 12years classroom and online teaching experience in English Literature, Composition and Research.
Research areas include Women's Literature, Contemporary Literature, Film and Film theory, Gender Theory, Feminist Theory and minority literatures. Publications cover topics in contemporary women's literature, gender theory and film. Publications include Senses of Cinema (an online film journal), Film Criticism, and the Quarterly Review of Film and Video. Additional interests include educational technology. Prof. Rigney is currently working on a Masters Degree in Educational Technology at Texas A&M. Interests include use of Web 2.0 tools, effecitve teaching of literature in the online classroom, course development, learning theories and instructional design.
