Biography - Melissa Rigney


I received my B.A. in English from UCLA, a Masters degree in English from the University of Northern Iowa and a PhD in 2003 from the University of Nebraska. I have have over 15 years classroom and online teaching experience in English Literature, Literary Theory, Women's Literature, African-American Literature, Composition, and Business writing.

Research Interests include Women's Literature, Contemporary Literature, Film and Film theory, Gender Theory, Feminist Theory and minority literature. My publications cover topics in contemporary women's literature, gender theory and film. Publications include Senses of Cinema (an online film journal), Film Criticism, and the Quarterly Review of Film and Video.

Additional interests include educational technology. I have a Masters Degree in Educational Technology from Texas A&M- Corpus Christi. I graduated in Dec. 2013. My interests include use of Web 2.0 tools, effective teaching of literature in the online classroom, online course design and development, adult learning theories and instructional design.

I am currently working on a book project exploring feminist pedagogy online.
