The student who graduates with a minor in Sociology will be able to: - Describe culture and socialization and recognize social structure and social interaction.
- Examine methods for conducting research in social psychology.
- Discuss applied social psychology topics such as law, business and health.
- Discuss the relationship between human inquiry and the social sciences, focusing on the ethics and methodologies of social research.
- Detail quantifying data, highlighting various coding techniques.
- Discuss the concept of experiments by addressing classical experiments, strengths and weaknesses of the experimental method, and subject selection.
- Describe various types of survey research, how questions are designed and administered, who responds to questionnaires, and how survey research is interpreted.
- Identify and discuss the major social issues that influenced the development of sociological theory.
- Analyze important developments in recent sociological theory, including developments in European sociological theory that influenced the growth of theory in the United States.
